Letter, 1776 June 7.

A letter to Major General Philip Schuyler regarding the needs of his county in the defense against invasion. Bellinger discusses recent intelligence that he had received from the Fort Stanwix area and from the German Flatts settlements, notifying him that the Indians were planning to attack the Mohawk Valley, where those two settlements were located. Bellinger states that his regiment, the Fourth Regiment of Tryon County Militia, is in desperate need of powder, flints, and lead. He requests that Schuyler send those supplies immediately as well as a contingent of troops ample enough to protect the valley. Written at Johnstown, N.Y.
